A volunteer plants flowers to help beautify downtown Harvey Motiviated by a vision to make Harvey as aesthetically pleasing as neighboring cities Homewood and South Holland, Mayor Eric J. Kellogg launched the City's first Beautification Program in the summer of 2003.
Geared to develop community pride attract economic development, the Beautification Program consists of more than encouraging residents to place flowers throughout the community. The City-Wide Clean-Up and Adopt-A-Lot Programs make up core components of the Harvey Beautification Program.
Pride in Harvey, A City-Wide Clean-Up Day Every other Saturday since taking office, Mayor Kellogg leads residents, city employees and other volunteers on short excursions throughout the area to clean up the City of Harvey.
Adopt-A-Lot Program Individuals, businesses and other organizations are encouraged to adopt one of the dilapidated lots scattered throughout Harvey. After providing the initial grass cutting, the City also provides a prominently displayed sign featuring the adopting organization's name.
